Despite a heresy crowd and USA dollars flying across the concession tables faster than bat out of hell, Ozzy has snub their Arizona fans not to attend the Phoenix event Ozzfest this summer. This is ironic since Phoenix hosted one of the first two Ozzfest events in 1996. The other was held in Los Angeles. Perhaps only were not awarded the Master of Metal this year? Not all were willing to pay one to three hundred US dollars a ticket and sacrifice their firstborn, Ozzy.
If you will jump out on fans at least have the decency to record a video message of welcome and greetings. There were lots of big screens around, so everyone would have seen it. If Ozzy had lost his voice or not feel well enough to talk, he could have offered a middle finger salute or bitten the head off one of the Backstreet Boys. If even that was a lot to ask, the Prince of Darkness could have had their dogs come and crap the whole stadium or Sharon asked to open the event by throwing some birds frozen in the first few fans to arrive. If all fails, their children could have come and set fire to piles of N Sync and Snoop Dog CDs for everyone in the mood for the day of the event.
Fortunately, there are some great acts out there who really care about the fans in this city and know how to show it. Mick Jaeger had some problems in the throat, so Stones recently cancelled some dates in the USA. Phoenix was not one of them. AFI, the CHILI PEPPERS, TAKING BACK SUNDAY and GWAR really rocked the Valley of the Sun during the summer. But my favorite was Evanescence.
I & 39; ll be the first to admit that it had not been properly updated on all things Evanescence until my wife brought the band to my attention several months ago. Then I started listening to their music, I was delighted by it. It has been some time since I heard everything that was melodic and unique. While fans may argue to the contrary, most artists who can get signed these days seem to be clones of fighting afternoon eighty alternative music bands or the now infamous and always whiney sound of the nineties.
I as music that is different and hate to admit it, but the last concert that I thought was refreshingly distinctive was a Buster Poindexter and the Banshees of Blue show in the early nineties. It was a smaller space and the music was hot! Being from New York City, I guess I & 39; ma bit jaded. I had the opportunity to be exposed to a constant stream of live music in the form of major acts of street bands and above all between the trip to the Arizona. On the flipside, it also means that I keep performers of a higher standard and we know great music when I hear it. That& 39;s how I felt when saw the Evanescence Concert in the Celebrity Theater, last week.
After read up on Amy Lee Evanescence staff and the various changes for a few weeks before the big night, I was ready for the concert. We bought our tickets, so what happened in the sale. To be honest, they were a bargain for a concert held in the Celebrity Theater. This place is so intimate as you can get without renting the place of the high school gym and using only half the space. It would be expected that the shell usual hundred US dollars or more to be almost within arms reach of a class act as Evanescence, but paid somewhere in the thirty to forty US dollars range.
Listening Revelation Theory to open the show and hearing Amy Lee belt out his first pair of songs with Evanescence, which I felt really guilty for paying so little to do so much talent in such an intimate setting. To make up for it, I tried to buy my wife and children some band tees. For the time we had to face a long line, the proper sizes were gone. I bought some anyway because I have been trying to lose a few pounds lately. If I had doubts about the band, he had nothing to do with his music or performance. I just wonder if they were receiving their fair share?
Reading some of the comments attributed to her by various websites and blogs, I found that there probably would not be any Amy Lee perfumes, designer clothes, signing up or lines of action figures Evanescence available anywhere in the near future. However, if she is or is not a material girl, Amy must know that it must have been personally responsible for the sudden increase in sales of things like dark eyeliner, white and black knee length socks and long black dresses. Oops, I forgot, and about a billion dollars of black hair dye.
It is not uncommon to find artists who are unaware of its real popularity or gain real potential. After all, they are Artists, not donors. I got the distinct impression that the members of Evanescence were legitimately surprised by the number of fans who showed up for the event and sold to many others who wanted tickets and could not inch
Amy offered an apology for smaller place, but all of us really enjoyed the intimate atmosphere. However, here is bit of advice from the older and wiser to the lovely and extremely talented Miss Lee and his musical partners: The next time charge extra for intimacy, find more things to sell and return those calls for the management of large agencies. Even the " evil princess of the undead " can always use some zeros behind a large number in your nice bank account. Amy and the band certainly win it!
Oh, yea, I almost forgot. Ozzy, burn in hell!
